Attractions and Points of Interests

Established in 1871 and originally named Downingville, Vinita is the second oldest town in Oklahoma. It changed its name in honor of Vinnie Ream, the artist who sculpted a statue of Abraham Lincoln in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. As a former stop on Route 66, Vinita is home to iconic road signs and old art deco architecture. The city is also where the former world's largest McDonald's restaurant, with a square footage of 29,135 feet, is located over the top of I-44.

Ketchum's close proximity to Grand Lake makes it a popular tourist destination for Oklahoma and Kansas residents on weekends and holidays. Grand Lake, a reservoir of the Grand River, was created in 1940 after the completion of the Pensacola Dam. With opportunities for bass fishing, boating, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, and swimming, Ketchum is a great spot for a recreational home or a place to get away from it all. It's also an excellent camping and hiking area with RV resorts, as well home to several golf courses such as Cherokee Grove Golf Club, the semi-private Buffalo Ridge Country Club and the exclusive Coves.
